Actually this time it wasn't as bad. We had two great tips that made it tons easier and Alan much less frustrated.
Tip Number 1
First of all, we noticed when we moved from our last place how many gaping holes we had left in the walls from hanging things. I'm sure that will come right out of our deposit... So this time we decided to use picture hanging command strips. And they are awesome! They can actually hold a lot of weight and there's no drilling our pounding in nails. Plus it's fine if you want to adjust the picture slightly because the command strips are Velcro from the frame to the wall so you can take them down and adjust them easily.
Tip Number 2
Toothpaste. I saw this on pinterest a while back and remembered that we needed to try it. My husband loved it! All you have to do it put a dab of toothpaste on the back of the picture where you want the nail to go. Then press the picture against the wall and it will leave a toothpaste mark. Now you know exactly where your nail needs to go! It's already centered and in the perfect place. It made hanging up our gallery wall in the living room a super fast project. You have to try it, it's amazing!
And here's how our first gallery wall looks! I'm planning on doing one in the Bammer's room and in our room too. So lots more work and fun for Alan, but now we have these great ways to hang pictures and all can be happy in the Tanner home.

ReplyDeleteAlexis,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great tip for using non-identical frames. It can be so frustrating when the hanging hardware is positioned slightly different on each frame. And much to my husband's chagrin, I'm the queen of impulsively purchasing frames.
I followed you over from the Singing Little Birds linky party. I would love if you stopped by my blog.
Thanks for sharing,
Laura
